Just stumbled over what looks to be a pretty cool release by GIMF of a new Asad al-Jihad2 monograph. Love him or hate him, he has both a dedicated following and the gravitas to make waves in the forums.
The title is: ”Our War Has Not Yet Started – Al-Qaeda’s Strategy for the Stage Between the Decline of the Moon of Islam and the Rise of Its Sun.” Typically verbose -
I’ll blog it out after I have a sec to read it.

Asad2 says that this is only the introduction to a much larger book he is writing. He promises that he will publish every chapter(s) separately whenever he is satisfied with the work done.
I browsed through it and it certainly looks very interesting
Couldn’t find a relevant place to post, but would you consider Al-Qaeda’s wings (Somalia, Yemen, etc) morphing into groups that share a similar ideology but never have the same methodology given the differing circumstances due to culture, geography, etc, i.e somalia is having a famine; Afghanistan and Iraq aren’t.
Holding ground was not AQI’s forte because they eventually lost the support of the populace + periodical military surge. What if in a certain region of the Middle-East al-Qaeda finds a large, extremely susceptible spread of people who would actually want a shariah state? Perhaps after the Arab uprisings they will find something like that and be guaranteed of long-term support for holding ground, spreading out and running more than a shadow government. Great reading these articles, thanks for ‘em.
