I’ve been doing some media on the issue of celebrity jihadist e-shaykhs. So far I’ve kept my comments limited to 2 shaykhs from the West (Anwar al-Awlaki and Abdullah al-Faisal) and 3 shaykhs from AQ (Abu Yahya al-Libi and Khalid al-Husaynan, Mansour al-Shami).
I havent discussed Hani al-Sibai since he’s not really a shaykh in my book, although his followers all call him “shaykh doctor…” He is, however, a very prominent voice among jihadist types in the West and around the world. Participants on Al-Faloja Forum are praising Hani al-Sibai’s recent message on the topic of the Houthis in Yemen, the juristic views of the Zaidis and his thoughts on Abu Dujana al-Khorasani’s Khost attack.
If you want to listen to this in Arabic: http://www.almaqreze.net/Sounds/Hothyoon_Kharasany.wma
there’s no English transcript available..but I’ll be adding Hani to my list of dudes to track on the blog…
