Meet Jihobbyist Subject 5. I’ll repost some of the pics that he publicly posted himself now and come back to comment later tonight with in-depth analysis.
Although this is not an actual pic of our guy, he is using it as his avatar, which means that he’s got a great sense of humour.
He took the second to last poster off the “Designs” section of one of the forums. It’s by (and signed) by a pretty skilled cyber jihadi-takfiri designer, Abu Qatada al-Maqdisi. Unless the poster is the designer.
Sorry to have to tell you, but the top picture is not of Jihobbyist # 5, but of a Palestinian Hamas leader.
It was in a newspaper a year or two ago, perhaps Haaretz or NYT. I can’t recall which one, but I remember the picture very well, for being so awesome I had to download it and forward it to a friend.
There was actually a second picture in the series, which shows the same room in wider scope. It reveals a second masked gunman to his right, listening lazily as the first guy chats away on the phone, twirling his Kalashnikov. It’s even better — I still have it on my hard drive just for laughs, but sadly I don’t know how to include it in a comment post…
