I’m shocked that this hasnt been covered anywhere in English yet, but I’m happy to break the story. Sayyid Imam Sharif, better known as Abd al-Qadir ibn Abd al-Aziz to jihadists and better known as Dr. Fadl to everyone, has published a new book this week.
Al-Sharq al-Awsat has secured exclusive publishing rights and, like his other works, is being trickled it out in serialized format, episode-by-episode.
The book is called, The Future of the Conflict in Afghanistan, and is another hit-piece on UBL and Al-Zawahiri. So far, we’re on day three.
As an aside, the Al-Sharq al-Awsat introduction to the book by the journalist, Mohammed Mustafa Abu Shama, opens by referencing my profile piece of Sayyid Imam in the December 2009 Foreign Policy special on the 100 most influential global thinkers of the year.
I’ll be following up with a more in-depth post about the book’s contents as soon as I land but from a quick skim, it looks like another devastating attack by one of the world’s foremost authorities on al-Qaida that’s loaded with some juicy historical nuggets. I cant imagine that AQ will let this go unanswered…
